Age of Musket FAQ>>

Welcome to the Age of Musket free wargame rules.

The Age of Musket series is suiteable for any figure scale and published in PDF format making them accessable across all operating systems and easy to print.

The series of rules cover the period from 1690 when the Musket became the primary weapon for Infantry of the European Armies until 1866 when the Musket was retired out of service by most armies of the world .

In the Age of Musket series all charges are resolved before any other actions.
A charge includes a response, the melee and any break through.
Like any charge in history if it is against well formed troops it can fail.

The rules are designed to be fast flowing, easy to use and capable of covering small or large games.

The generic rules can be used with all of the rules in the series. They include buildings and determining the winner. For those more ambitious there are campaign rules.

During the era of the Smoothbore Musket there were changes in tactics, drill, unit formations and improved artillery but the musket stayed virtually the same in design for over hundred and seventy years. The Age of Musket series include these changes and capture the atmosphere of each era and campaign.
